Erasmus Policy Statement (2021-2027)
Bingöl University's International (EU and non-EU) Strategy
In line with the Erasmus+ Programme 2021–2027, our institution is committed to strengthening internationalisation through high-quality mobility and cooperation activities, with a focus on improving institutional capacity, enhancing learning and teaching experiences, and ensuring that participation is accessible, fair, and sustainable. Bingöl University will continue to develop long-term partnerships, support transparent and accountable implementation processes, and promote the visibility and impact of Erasmus+ activities at institutional and local levels.
The strategy plan of our institution emphasizes international sharing and exchanges. For this reason, Bingöl University seeks to promote internationalisation through its Erasmus Office and International Relations Office. It is actively engaged in a wide range of EU-funded activities and European networks, and it aims to strengthen this involvement in the coming years. The University’s Internationalisation Strategy, together with its Learning and Teaching Strategy, prioritises the development of long-term, sustainable networks and partnerships with higher education institutions and other organisations across research, teaching, and enterprise for mutual benefit. In defining medium- and long-term objectives, the University adopts measurable and consistent targets.
Mobility programmes are regarded by the University Board as key tools for observing different academic environments and gaining institutional and personal experience. To expand mobility opportunities for both students and staff, the university seeks to develop partnerships with research-intensive institutions worldwide. Under the Erasmus+ programme, the university currently has more than 100 partner institutions across 40 countries, enabling student and staff exchanges in various departmental subject areas. In addition, Bingöl University maintains cooperation agreements with non-European countries and, in recent years, has supported this dimension through the KA171 programme. These partnerships are reviewed annually with the aim of consolidating and strengthening each relationship, while departments are encouraged to establish new partnerships that can deliver long-term benefits for both institutions.
The key objective is to increase outgoing student mobility while maintaining the level of incoming student mobility. Outgoing staff mobility has been oversubscribed, and efforts will continue to maximise opportunities within available funding limits. The Erasmus strategy is student-centred, with a particular focus on first-cycle students, enabling them to study in European countries for at least one academic period. In selecting partner institutions, the University prioritises maximum mutual benefit by considering academic profiles, ongoing research and educational activity, physical and learning environments, and relevant fields of practice. Diversity of partner countries and the compatibility of course offerings are also taken into account. Bingöl University values sustainable cooperation and therefore aims to build long-term relationships with well-established and advanced institutions.
As a university, the institution set targets to ensure that by the end of 2027 approximately 8% of students and staff benefit from European programmes and 7% from non-European exchange programmes. Located in a comparatively underdeveloped city in Türkiye, Bingöl University considers exchange programmes vital opportunities for strengthening educational quality and supporting the institutional development.
Our Institution's Strategy for the Organisation and Implementation of the International Cooperation Projects
At the university a Project Management Office is available. The projects are searched and implemented within this office. Many European and National granted projects have been implemented through the Office. The projects being implemented by the university are generally on teaching, training, ICT and innovative approaches. The Project Management Office aims to include implementing a project portfolio management tool, refining the benefits methodology, and continuing the advancement of the project management methodology.
