Bingöl province is located in the Upper Euphrates region of Eastern Anatolia. It is surrounded by the provinces of Muş, Erzurum, Erzincan, Tunceli, Elazığ, and Diyarbakır. The altitude of the provincial center is 1,151 meters above sea level, and the terrain is mountainous and rugged. The province experiences a continental climate, characterized by hot and dry summers and cold winters with snowfall.
